Hi everyone! I am a rising junior at Furman University
double majoring in Applied Mathematics and Music! I’m from Maryville,
Tennessee, which is near Knoxville in East Tennessee. After going to about 15
college visits and 3 music auditions, I realized that Furman was the place for
me, mostly because I felt at home in the music department. Because getting a
Bachelor of Arts in Music is very intensive the first two years at Furman, I
feel like most of my Furman experience has been defined by my music. I am very
excited to begin exploring the mathematical side of what Furman has to offer
with this May Experience.
If someone would have told me in high school that I would be
a math major in college, I would have never believed them. I found my love of
math when I took AP Statistics my senior year of high school. Immediately, I dropped
the idea of going into marketing and changed my focus to statistics. I am
currently interested in learning more about Marketing Analytics, which would combine
my love of statistics and marketing. I hope to one day have my job in statistics
during the day and play in an orchestra at night.
Favorite Restaurants
I am pretty familiar with Disney World as I have been there
about 6 times. In my most recent visit, I went to L’Artisan des Glaces in the
France pavilion in Epcot where I had the most delicious sorbet I’ve ever had. I
can’t wait to go back to try more flavors! One place I’d like to try is Tokyo
Dining in Epcot because I recently tried sushi for the first time and really
liked it. Also, I’ve been going to the Rainforest Cafe since I was a little
kid, and I have fond memories of eating there on family members’ birthdays and
getting a huge volcano brownie dessert to share.
Favorite Rides
I absolutely love fast paced rides that give you an
adrenaline rush, which is probably why Tower of Terror is my favorite ride in
the parks. I also am a big fan of The
Twilight Zone so it’s cool to see that come to life. I also enjoy the Toy
Story Midway Mania ride because Toy Story
was one of my favorite movies as a child. Finally, the last time that I went to
Disney, I rode Expedition Everest for the first time, and I can’t wait to ride
it again!
